Jay Stocker
Programmer
Jay grew up in Illinois sans siblings. He got his first computer at age 7: an Apple IIGS. While sifting through the pile of manuals, Jay came across one that was an introduction to AppleSoft BASIC. From that point on he was hooked, writing tiny programs to move giant-pixeled, beeping spaceships across the screen.
A subscription to 3-2-1 Contact magazine only deepened Jay's addiction, as each issue used to contain a BASIC program that he diligently keyed in. This inspired Jay to attend a BASIC programming summer camp and to study programming every year of high school.
Jay has always known that programming would be his future career.
After leaving Hinsdale, IL, Jay headed southeast to the Georgia Institute of Technology. As a "rambling wreck and a hell of an engineer," he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science.
Since Jay has been an avid gamer his entire life, working in the games industry has always been his dream job. With no experience in the field, he crept into Big Huge as an Associate Programmer, proving his skills over the next 8 months by working on Rise of Legends.
When Jay isn't a Tauren Shaman he is a casual musician who likes to continually collect skills with new instruments, which to date include: Piano, Hand Bells, Guitar, Bass Guitar, and Accordion (thanks to Ken Rolston). With his hand bell choir he got the opportunity to tour the US, Canada, and Europe. He is an Eagle Scout and ex-varsity-gymnast who also enjoys cooking, racing down snowy slopes on either skis or snowboards, and risking his life (and those of his coworkers) on his office Razor scooter.
Now that he's full-on Big Huge he aspires to become more biggerer and more hugerer on a daily basis.
