April 30, 2007 - Catan Comes to Live!
Big Huge Games is pleased to announce that its upcoming title Catan has completed the Xbox Live Certification process and is set to release internationally on May 2nd, 2007! Catan for Xbox Live Arcade places the player in the role of colonists on the newly discovered island of Catan. Through strategy and trading, players compete for control over the valuable territory and resources the island has to offer.
Keeping faithful to the original Settlers of Catan board game which has sold over ten million copies worldwide, Catan is the rare game that appeals to both newcomer and hardcore players. With easy to learn rules and a different map every time, Catan provides endless hours of enjoyment and takes only minutes to learn.
Catan for Xbox Live Arcade features robust AI, a beautifully rendered 3D "living world", a streamlined trading interface, a ranked matchmaking system, and is voice chat enabled. A demo will be readily downloadable when Catan launches, with the full version available for purchase for 800 Microsoft Points.
As an added bonus, several downloads will become available to all Xbox Live subscribers over the next few months. For example, a Generals Picture Pack add-on will feature gamertag portraits of some of the historic greats players encounter in Catan, including Alexander, Elizabeth, and Frederick.
