ROLLING STONE NAMES BALTIMORE "BEST SCENE OF 2008"
Rolling Stone Magazine's annual The Best of Rock issue features an article titled "The 125-Plus People, Places, and Things Ruling the Rock & Roll Universe." In this year's issue, Baltimore is named the "Best Scene of 2008!"

ANGELO SOLERA BOOK RELEASE AND VIDEO PRESENTATION

Angelo Solera (Mexican wrestler, basengi dog, pirate, circus clown, Scottish man on wheels, and a few other things) is now an author and self-publisher of his own book titled "The Journey: El Camino."
"After walking a 400 mile journey to Santiago of Compostela, Spain in 2005, Solera was inspired to share his experiences from this magical pilgrimage, and how he turned his life around from an immigrant teenager-turned-addict into a community activist, health care advocate, and political candidate."
The book and a video about the journey will be released at the Creative Alliance on June 4th from 6 to 8 p.m. All are invited. It's free and open to the public. A taste of Spain will be served for the event (tapas and sangria).

Celebrate the final weekend of Looking through the Lens! Meet photographers who contributed to the "Looking Now: BMA Digital Photography Project" and hear poetry inspired by photographs in the exhibition.
Approximately 150 vintage prints by some of the world's best-known 20th century photographers are featured in this exhibition of iconic images by European and American artists such as Man Ray, Alfred Stieglitz, Edward Weston, Paul Strand, Dorothea Lange, and Gordon Parks. Drawn from the BMA's outstanding collection, these rarely shown photographs were produced during a pivotal period in the history of the medium - when photography became fully recognized as an art form.

BALTIMORE ARTIST ALEXANDER FOLEY EXHIBIT

The paintings to be displayed have been poured, dripped, spilled, or sprayed onto the canvas to achieve loosely representational images. The results show an interaction of paint, drying agents, extremes of hot and cold, and extended drying periods. No paint brushes were used.
Grand Cru, located at 527 E. Belvedere in Belvedere Square (410-464-1944, grandcrubaltimore.com), boasts more than 300 types of bottled wine for sale, has three dozen small-vintner wines available by the glass, and taps new casks every other Wednesday.
Alexander Foley, a Towson Fine Arts graduate and established local artist, has been painting, sculpting, and exhibiting in the area for over 20 years.

LITTLE ITALY OPEN-AIR FILM FESTIVAL 2008
This year's festival continues the wildly popular format of presenting feature-length, Italian-themed FILMS BEGINNING at 9 P.M. on consecutive FRIDAY EVENINGS, starting July 11, 2008 through August 31, 2008 at the INTERSECTION of HIGH and STILES STREETS in the heart of Little Italy in the open-air amphitheater style.
These screenings are free and open to the public. Folding chairs are provided on a first come basis, although attendees may wish to bring a lawn chair to assure seating comfort and availability. Free popcorn!
